On may 31 as part of the trimestral series that will be presented at the Aloft San Juan of convention Center, Jaer Caban Presented his Fall winter 2023 colletion called Hypha
Hypha was inspired by the microscopic images of plants and fungi. The collection explores otherworldly, scientific, optical visualizations, and showcases garments with shapes and structures that can only be seen through a magnifying glass.
Intricate laser cuts were crafted in magenta, purple and forest green tones, designed in the likes of plant vascular bundles, fungal hyphae and DNA. This fall/winter proposal also incorporates transparent acrylic sheets with silver engravings and carved reliefs, simulating laboratory slides. As well, black and white color blocking, suggestive of the aesthetics of a modern microscope, accentuate several of the styles. Wide and pencil skirts, oversized-sleeved blouses with manipulated textiles, dramatic hoods, pleated pants and draped dresses, are also favored among the looks.
Laboratory coats and shirtdresses were tailored into more elevated and haute couture apparels, with puffed silk faille and transparencies of organza and mesh, that achieve harmonious contrasts between what would be a cold and sterile space dedicated to botanical studies, versus the curvilinear and diverse floral nature.
