Dawid Tomaszewski’s Autumn/Winter 2011 collection "Kaleidoscope" is an aesthetic experiment inspired by the renowned installations of Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson and the x-ray photography of Nick Veasey who hails from Maidstone, England.
Through his work which is often epic in scale, Eliasson employs space, time and light to convey the distorted nature of humanity’s inconsistency of perception. To him art is not merely an outlet for visual recreation but something which can sharpen the observer’s perception of nature and their own personal existence. English artist Nick Veasey explores the concept that what is perceived with the naked eye is simply a metaphor for the reality which lies beneath the surface. To explore this idea Veasey focuses on all too familiar objects using the concept of x-ray photography as his investigative scalpel.
Although both artists differ with their approach and technique, they are both united through the unusual beauty of their work.
Looking through the Kaleidoscope of Tomaszewski we seem to be hypnotized of shapes, forms and patterns. Nuances at the backgrounds and textures make the dominant, multiple reflection effect.
The cold of winter captivates and the darkness starts to glow.
